A top corporate professional working for a leading home appliance brand has accused the tenant of forcibly occupying his Noida property after the lease agreement expired.

Gurugram-based According to Rohit Mathur, president of Usha International, he leased his ground floor property in Noida’s Sector 51 to Pramod Khullar of Pertech Exports on April 7, last year. However, all hell broke loose when the tenant allegedly refused to vacate the premises.

“According to the Uttar Pradesh Tenancy Act, a rental authority led by a civic administration official has been established.” In the event of a dispute between a tenant and a landlord, both parties can approach it, and a settlement is reached within 60 days,” says Kumar Mihir, Advocate on Record, Supreme Court of India.

The incident is similar to another case in which the owners of a flat in a high-rise society in Greater Noida West were able to reclaim their own flat after living on the staircase outside their apartment for a week. Despite multiple notices and requests, the tenant refused to leave the flat.
